embarrassing daddy

Last night after we picked the boys up at daycare, we were dealing with horrible traffic do to a few different accidents.  It was going to be much later than we normally get home, and there was no way I would have what I had planned to make for dinner ready before 7:00.  So, Brian suggested we stop at City Barbeque for dinner.

We didn't know what we wanted, so we both needed to go in to decide.  We debated getting dinner to go, but with how traffic was, decided to try eating at the restaurant, otherwise it would be cold by the time we got it home.

We placed our order, then I took the boys to a booth to sit down.  We found some booster seats and got everyone situated while Brian got us some water, brought our food, got utensils, etc.  The boys sat and ate very well - of course, we made our selections based on what they would eat- BBQ pork, maccaroni and cheese, and sweet potato casserole.  And of course, cornbread.

We were nearing the end of our meal, so Brian went to the counter to get some To Go boxes for us to take the leftovers home.  He was waiting for someone to help him when he heard Jackson calling for him - "Daddy!  Daddy!".  When Brian turned to look at him, he then very emphatically called out "Hi!".

Needless to say, all eyes in the restaurant were focused on Brian responding to the call of his young son.  Brian's cheeks got a little bit red, but he still managed to smile and wave back to Jackson.

All I could hear was my dad saying, "It's nice to be loved, isn't it?"
